Certified Dog Trainer (ABCDT)

With over 20 years of experience handling thousands of dogs of all breeds and temperaments, I've chosen to specialize in canine obedience and behavior modification utilizing techniques focused on developing strong handler/dog relationships.  Since my focus is the family dog, my style of training is tailored to enhance the bond and enjoyment both inside and outside of the family.  The goal of training is to attain reliability through confidence, which is created using postive-based techniques.  Harsh corrections, electronic collars and choke/prong chains are not required to attain a well-mannered family pet and negatively affects confidence in dogs.  Recognizing the needs of every dog for proper socialization and training, I can help dogs of any age and background to accomplish this goal.

I am a Professional Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and I keep current with education through seminars and classes.  I have been training, evaluating and preparing puppies and dogs for AKC STAR Puppy and CGC certification for over 20 years.  I received my Certified Dog Trainer status through Animal Behavior College and currently am a  Mentor Trainer for students attending the program.  I have worked as a TDI Therapy Dog Evaluator and will prepare you and your dog for therapy dog tests.

My wonderful pups are Otis and Rachel. Otis has been a registered Therapy Dog and often accompanies me to my classes to demonstrate the obedience commands and behaviors expected through training. Rachel is a puppy mill rescue who is sweet as a button!

One of my goals is to ensure that puppies and dogs find their forever homes and are happy and loved for a lifetime. Proper training makes that happen!
